History

The commune of St Goazec is known for its coal sabot-makers/who lived during the last centuries (19/18ième century) in the surrounding forests and wood

The name of this commune comes from Woazec saint or Gwazec, disciple of Patrice saint and bishop to Ireland.

Saint-Goazec is a dismemberment of the primitive parish of Laz. Saint-Goazec is, with the Middle Ages, a trève of the parish of Laz and depends on old évêché on Cornwall. Saint-Goazec is detached from Laz under the legal settlement and becomes a parish with whole share.
