Saint-Gingolph is a village located on the border free - Suisse on southern bank of the Lac Léman, with the mouth of the Morge.
Saint-Gingolph was founded in 755 by an officer of Pépin the Brief, holy Gangolf, known to be patron saint of the misled husbands.
The peace treaty of March 4th 1569 between the duke Emmanuel-Philibert of Savoy, on the one hand, and the bishop of Sion and the seven ten-line stanzas of Were worth, on the other hand, fixed the border between the Savoy and the Valais according to the course of the Morge, so that the village was found crossed by the border.
The village being crossed by the border free - Swiss, it is managed by two distinct communes:
on the French side, Saint-Gingolph , commune of the department of the Haute-Savoie;
