Geography

Commune of 1627 hectares, it gathers six hamlets on the Western margins of the basin of Belley, adding up, in 1993,273 inhabitants: Appregnin, Brognin, Cessieu, Axle, Meyrieu, Trappon.

The commune is located on the calcareous plate at an average altitude of 400 meters, at the foot of Molard de Don (1219m) and Cross of the Rock (1008m).

History

Saint-Germain-the-parishes is close to the places inhabited in Magdalénien: cave of Hotteaux with Rossillon, Under Vargonne with Contrevoz… Its slopes are shone upon, its forests, its rivers attracted the men of the Neolithic era.
