Saint-Germain-the-City is a common French, located in the department of the Marne and the area Champagne-Ardenne.
During the French revolution the commune was called the Germinal-on-Marne.

History

Saint Germain is known as " Ville" because of the presence of ruins of a Gallo-Roman villa discovered on its territory. It was the place of a crash landing of a hunter of Royal Air Force during the Second world war. The pilots and team-members are buried in the cemetery bordering the church.

Saint-Germain-the-city belongs to the Communauté of communes of the Valley of Chalk gathering five communes: Saint-Germain-the-City, Chepy, the Vésigneul-on-Marne, Pogny, Omey.
