Geography

Saint-Genoa-Champanelle is composed of twelve villages:

Beaune-the-heat; Berzet; Champeaux; Chatrat; Fontfreyde; Laschamps; Manson; Nadaillat; Forgiveness; Saint-Genoa-Champanelle borough; Thèdes; Theix. This commune is on the territory of the Regional Park of the Volcanos of Auvergne.

History

During last decades, the residential vocation of the commune continued, justified by the proximity of the agglomeration clermontoise and the quality of its environment. Thus the old centers of the villages were surrounded by an aureole of new constructions.

This commune of third crown forms part since 2004 of the Community of Communes of Clermont-Ferrand. It shows an associative, cultural dynamism and sportsman in phase with the landscape, the sporting installations available and the activity of its inhabitants.

An independent and dynamic association, the GENEALOGICAL CIRCLE and HISTORICAL CHAMPANELLOIS (CGHC), thanks to its president Bruno FUNGENZI and through his Internet site (www.champanelle.net), makes it possible all to discover the history and the inheritance of this commune created with the French revolution.

Twinnings

Saint-Genoa-Champanelle is twinned with the German city of Kallmünz, small city of Bavaria close to Regensburg, since June 23rd 1984 and with Monterosso Al common Pond of the province of Spezia in the Ligurie area in Italy. The joint committee organizes throughout the year of the demonstrations in collaboration with its twin cities (Meetings citizens, Marché of Christmas, Repas with topic, Concerts, roundtables…)
