Saint-Fortunat-on-Eyrieux is a common French, located in the department of the Ardèche and the area the Rhone-Alps.

History

Saint Fortunat on Eyrieux (famous thus in 1931) was founded in the first times of Christendom, the commune was integrated into the baronnie of Durfort. The commune carried the revolutionary toponym of " Valley of Eyrieux"

Personalities related to the commune

Antoine-Guillaume Rampon born in Saint-Fortunat in 1759, it engaged at the 16 years age to the 70e regiment of line. Pomegranate quartermaster-sergeant in 1789, it was high with the rank of second lieutenant in 1792. The following year, as a combatant against Spanish in the Eastern Pyrenees, it was successively promoted captain, commander and colonel. After the Bataille of the Mount-Thabor (24-02-1799) it was made major general. It is deceased with Paris in 1842.
