Saint-Father-in-Retz
Saint-Father-in-Retz is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the area Pays of the Loire.
The common belongs to the historical Brittany, in the traditional country of the Pays of Retz and in the historical country of the Nantes Pays. The inhabitants of the commune are called the Peretziens and Peretziennes .
Geography
Located into full Scrap-metal with the Country of Retz, the Holy Father is at equal distance between the the Loire and the Atlantic Ocean (ten kilometers). Saint-Father-in-Retz also profits from the proximity of the agglomerations of Saint-Nazaire (25 km) and Nantes (45 km).The commune of Saint-Father-in-Retz is surrounded of the communes of Paimbœuf, Corsept, Saint-Brévin-the-Pines, Saint-Michel-Chief-Chief, Pornic, Chauvé, Arthon-in-Retz and Saint-Viaud.
History
The parish was entrusted to the monks of the Abbaye of Marmoutier located in Touraine.
Become thereafter possession of Jean de Montfort, the parochial territory will change hands. Indeed, after the death of the duke Jean III of Brittany in April 1341, a successional conflict opposes Jean de Montfort to Charles of Blois for the succession of Brittany. Philippe VI referee in favor of his nephew, Charles of Blois. Saint-Father-in-Retz became then possession of the king de France Philippe VI.
With Saint-Father-in-Retz, under the old mode existed two parishes on the present commune, that of the Holy Father and that of Holy-Convenient which became a commune but quickly was removed (1793) and thus attached to the Holy Father.
