Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry

Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry is a common French, located in the department Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

With the commune bordering on Pringy, it forms the Communauté of communes of Seine-School.

Geography

In edge of the Seine, it is located at the edge of the Département of the Essonne, and constitutes a “main door” of the regional natural park of the Gâtinais French .

The communes bordering are: Boissise-the-King, Pringy, Mennecy, Seine-Port and Coudray-Montceaux.

The commune is served by:

  • two stations the SNCF of the line D of the RER Paris - Juvisy - Melun: Saint-Fargeau and Ponthierry - Pringy.
  • D607 (ex-RN 7), which crosses Ponthierry;
  • the highway A6, with two exits in the direction Paris-Province: the n° 11 (Coudray-Montceaux) and the n° 12, St-Fargeau-Ponthierry.

It is there the only bridge which crosses the Seine between Corbeil-Essonnes and Melun, the bridge of the Marshal June, who connects moreover the communes of St-Fargeau-Ponthierry and Seine-Port.

In addition to the locality of Ponthierry and the village of Fargeau Saint, the commune gathers several hamlets: Auxonnette, Moulignon, Tilly (where formerly the town hall of the commune was), Jonville, Villers, and the Lakes of Guiche, which are an extension of the village of Fargeau Saint.

History

The name of Ponthierry would come from a bridge on the School crossed by Thierry II, king de Bourgogne, in year 600. Saint-Fargeau formed a baronnie with Tilly - House-Red. Henri IV made there raise a castle for Gabrielle d' Estrées.

It is in Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry -- by the Hamlet of Tilly, then that of Villers --, released by FFI, that the US army of the general Patton crossed the Seine starting from the August 23rd 1944, before continuing on Melun, is France, the Belgium and the Germany.

Blasonnement

The weapons of the commune, whose current version goes back to 1950, are of azure to a money bar, accompanied, on the whole, of a bridge of three sand gold arches, built posed at a peak, confined with dextral of a sun with sixteen gold rays and accompanied by a Military Cross 1939-1945 with star of bronze posed out of stake .

Religious heritage

Several church S, of which that of Saint-Fargeau ( Village ) of the S, classified for its vault in reversed nave, as well as the martyrdom of, located right in front of this church.

Health

The Foundation Ellen Poidatz , in Saint-Fargeau Village, created in 1919, where one lodges, looks after and provides education for young people (18 months to 20 years) handicapped victims of the Poliomyélite.

The commune also has a Municipal Center of Health.

Economy

The essence of the economic activity of the commune was always exerted in Ponthierry, initially close to the the Seine and the Railway, for logistic reasons.

On Saint-Fargeau, before besides the realization of the railroad, have a Viticultural activity, which explains the presence of a brotherhood of the Saint-Vincent, always alive. This activity is in the course of revival. And, in the hamlet of Villers, there was exploitation of a Sablière.

The painted Papiers Leroy were, of 1913 to 1970, the most important activity of the commune. It remains about it, in the plan of the industrial inheritance, the Leroy hotel, as well as the cities Leroy (working residences, and of the control, all with garden).

The Cooper , French pharmaceutical Co-operation, was also an activity and exploits its site of Ponthierry.

A ZAC, Europe, in edge of D607, lodge activities, and companies like the Establishments Truffaut, a site of Connex (Veolia group), COGNIS France.

Close to the roundabout to Europe and locality House-Red, near the hamlet of Tilly, are installed the Collaert Establishments, manufacturing belts for the account of large designers houses.

; At the 20th century
  • Alphonse Fercot, known as captain Freddy , chevalier of the Legion of Honor. Alphonse, Frederic, Fercot, chief of local Resistance;
  • Robert Dismisses, doctor, will join Alphonse Fercot and Resistance in 1942, as a person in charge of group for Ponthierry where he will play a big role. A street of Ponthierry was baptized street of the Future - Doctor Limoge, of the name of the gymnic association which it chaired pre-war period.   • Jean Pierre Abel-Rémusat was interested very young person in the Chinese world, then very badly known. Its tomb is just beside the church of Saint-Fargeau.

Tourist monuments and places

  • Factory of the wallpapers Leroy by the architect Paul Friesé, like his Quoted working, built between 1913 and 1920. A municipal project envisages the installation of the one of the buildings of the factory in arts center. A decree of the Cultural Affairs, n°2006 - 1708, dated November 13rd, 2006, carries inscription under the historic buildings of the frontages and the roofs of the building (8) of the powerplant of the old factory Leroy located 4 to 8 rue Pasteur and tow path to Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry (Seine-et-Marne) .
