Saint-Eugene (Islet)

Saint-Eugene is old a Municipalité Quebec (Canada). This municipality forms today part of the municipality of Islet. Today, one often uses the name of Saint-Eugene to indicate the part of the municipality of Islet which is on the old municipality of Saint-Eugene.

History

In 1855, little time after the abolition of the Mode seigneurial with the Quebec, the municipality of Our-Lady-with-Bonsecours is constituted on the territories of old the Seigneurie S of the Islet-Saint-Jean and Bonsecours.

In 1868, the municipality of Saint-Eugene is constituted on the grounds of the municipality of Our-Lady-of-Bonsecours;

In 1981, part of the territory of Our-Lady-of-Bonsecours is attached to Saint-Eugene.

The 1er January 2000, Saint-Eugene amalgamates with two other municipalities resulting from the original municipality from Our-Lady-of-Bonsecours, the Islet-on-Sea and city of Islet, to constitute the current municipality of Islet. The municipality of Islet covers about the same territory as the original municipality of Our-Lady-of-Bonsecours.
