Saint-Est2ephe wine vineyard

Saint-Estèphe is the communal Appellation more in north of the Médoc.

Its Vineyard, distributed only on the 1230 ha of the common of Saint-Est2ephe wine, produces on average 69.000 hl per annum Vin. The ground of the Medoc being roughly richer in Clay towards North, Saint-Estèphe is one of the most argillaceous soils of the peninsula. This explains the good resistance of the Vigne S to the hydrous stress the years of strong dryness, as in 2003 for example.

Just as for other communal names médocaines, the Cépage S authorized are the Cabernet S, sauvignon and frankly, the Carménère, the Merlot, the Malbec and the Petit verdot. The authorized best performance is of 45 hl/ha for a density of plantation of 6  500 with 10  000 feet with the hectare.

Saint-Est2ephe wine also announces by its great number of believed middle-class, of which much are of excellent level, comparable or higher than some believed classified. Among those one can quote the Château Phélan Ségur, the Château the Elms of Pez, and the Château Haut-Marbuzet.
