History
Property of Évêché de Maguelone to the Middle Ages, the priory of Saint-Drézéry is a small hamlet which grows slowly. At the end of the 16th century, it counts only 25 fires, that is to say a few tens of inhabitants.
At the 17th century, the " field of Saint-Drézéry" a castle transformed into monastery includes/understands (partially destroyed by a fire on August 2nd, 1790), as well as buildings, arable lands, vines, wood, pertaining to the chapter of the cathedral of Montpellier, it is the vacation resort of the clergy montpelliérain.
During its youth, Jean-Jacques-Governed of Cambacérès remains there of many times on vacation with his/her uncle, Etienne-François de Cambacérès, archdeacon of Montpellier. In 1791, the field is sold as quite national by the municipality of Montpellier (estimate 22 736 pounds 10 ground). Vice-president of the municipal council, Jean-Jacques-Governed of Cambacérès cannot become purchaser of Saint-Drézéry, it thus makes use of a figurehead to buy the field. Saint-Drézéry is allocated 50 100 pounds on January 4th, 1791 to the sior Claris, prosecutor in Montpellier, which resells it in Cambacérès on January 12th, 1791 for the same amount. To its death, Cambacérès bequeaths the castle to the cathedral of Montpellier.
At the 19th century, the population growth accelerates and the village, primarily agricultural (the vine is the principal culture), extends beyond its perimeter from origin. Today, Saint-Drézéry offers all the charm of a typically Languedocien village.
