Saint-Cyr military school is a historical film French, carried out by Patricia Mazuy and left in 2000. It is inspired by the novel the house of Esther of Yves Dangerfield.

Synopsis

In March 1685, M {{me}} of Maintenon, wife of Louis XIV, wishes to create a boarding school for the young girls of the poor nobility. It must initially be a question of a school where the young ladies will be piously but liberally high.

As of the beginning the task proves particularly difficult, because the young girls resulting from province, speak all various patois. One of the first tasks is to teach correct French to them.

After a few years of unconcern for all, the objective appears impossible to reach. An important crisis occurs because of an interpreted extract of the part Iphigénie, of Jean Racine. This one causes too great passions. M {{me}} of Maintenon request then to Jean Root to compose a part for his/her daughters to him which speaks in praise of the virtue. It is Esther, which will be played. At the time of the representation, the king and his court are invited. Mrs. de Maintenon carries out whereas her protected are seen like preys, by the noble ones.
