Saint-Cyr-on-Sea (in Occitan Of Provence Sant Ceri de Mar according to the traditional standard or Sant Céri de Mar according to the Standard mistralienne) is a commune of France in extreme cases western of the department of the Var.
Geography
Saint-Cyr-on-sea is located at the edge of the
Mediterranean (coordinated: 43°10' 44.03" NR, 5°42' 31.20" E):
- with 10 kilometers in the west of Bandol
- with 11 kilometers in the east of Ciotat.
- with 3 kilometers of exit 10 of the highway A50 connecting Marseilles (with 38 kilometers) and Toulon (to 25 km).
Saint-Cyr-on-sea is made of three villages:
- Saint-Cyr military school , in the grounds
- Lecques , the principal port, is a seaside resort and tourist. She is recognized by her beaches and the museum of Tauroentum .
- the Madrague : village which is organized around a port which is commonly called the Petit Port of Saint-Cyr military school.
- One also finds, Port of Alon and its Calanque (see Calanque of Port of Alon).
It belongs to the Communauté of communes Southern Holy Balsam.
History
Saint-Cyr-on-sea was populated as of prehistory, as testify some the stone flints discovered on the site to the museum of
Tauroentum . The excavations reveal an intense activity at the time Roman. These excavations were carried out as of the 17th century.
Witness of our past and guard of our inheritance, the museum of Tauroentum is one of the florets of Saint-Cyr-on-Sea. Built on the vestiges of a
Villa Maritima , it shelters three beautiful mosaics in black and white of, as well as a " Tomb on floor maison" remarkable which attests richness of this antique remains Roman.

The commune of Saint-Cyr military school was detached from the commune of Cadière-with Azure in 1825.
The commune of Saint-Cyr-on-Sea is proud to have on its Portalis place one of the four exact counterparts of the Statue of Freedom in France, in reduced model, whose signature of Bartholdi on the base attests of its authenticity. Inaugurated in Saint-Cyr military school in 1913, it is offered by Anatole Ducros, a great landowner of Saint-Cyr military school.
