The district Saint-Cyprien and Patte of Goose is a district of the town of Toulouse. Located on left bank of the the Garonne, he experienced a strong development these very last years.
This old suburb of the town of Toulouse, often flooded in the past, is considered popular, cosmopolitan (because of the hairdressers afros and the food stores of exotic products), alive and convivial.
A long time, the district was left at the thank you of fluctuating water of the the Garonne, as in 1875 where the level of water exceeded the 3,5 meters, making several hundreds of victims. The suburb was also the ground of Asylum of Gascons come from the west and the refuge of the poor, the patients, bet and the immigrants that the center town rejected.
Today, the subway gives to the district a new freshness, that the bars and other many restaurants of the Saint-Cyprien place exploit at will. The market of the place Roguet, the museum of modern art of the Slaughter-houses, the vitality of the street of the Republic confer a charm of convivial urban district today to him that much envies.
The district draws its roots in the antique tradition of the Reine Pédauque which one knows only Légende S and a Roman Aqueduc that one baptized " aqueduct of the queen pédauque".
Pédauque means " leg of oie" in Occitan. But the place of the Goose Leg has can be simply received its name starting from its configuration: a broad avenue coming from the center town via the New Bridge; this avenue gives rise to three great ways in range (more the small street of Gravette).
The Toulouse old men called this popular district, with a heard familiarity, " Saint-Cypre " , young people being satisfied with a " Saint-Cyp' " summary.
