Saint-Contest is a common French, located in the department of the Calvados and the area Basse-Normandie.
The commune is divided into hamlets: the Borough, Buron, Malon, Galmanche and Bitot. Saint-Contest is a commune bordering on the north of Caen, located on the plate of Caen.

The church was built of XIe in XIVe century. Gautier d' Aignaux, lord of Saint-Contest, made gift of the church to the abbey of Ardenne in 1207.
The Charnwood operation is the allied offensive in the west of Caen which was to release the city. July 7th, 1944, the Germans resist in spite of the many bombardments.
