Saint-Coming

Saint-Coming is a common French, located in the department of the Pas-de-Calais and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Saint-Coming is a borough located at the confluence of the Lys and brook of Guarbecque. Saint-coming is in the Flemish Artois. The name of the borough is francized since the top Moyen-âge.

Its inhabitants is Saint-Venantais.

History

Formerly strengthened city, it also acts of a seigniory set up in county in 1655. The village was definitively annexed in France with the Traité of Utrecht (1713). The village named originally Papinghem or Pappingeham : of papo and - inghem , the name would mean “field of papo”.

In 1094 it takes that of “Sanctus Venantius”, which will give the current name. This name comes from that of a Saint hermit which would have been established there, and from which fall it finds in the vicinity: Venantius, or Coming, at the 8th century.

The church of Saint-Coming was rebuilt after 1918. Its Bell date of 1670.

A British cemetery is also located at Saint-Coming.

Civil architecture

The town hall of Saint-Coming, going back to 1766, is classified historic building. It has a very pretty frontage.
