Saint-Brieuc-of-Iffs the is a common French, located in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and the area Brittany.

Geography

Hydrography: the commune is entirely located in the basin of the Rance. She is traversed south in north by two rivers, the brook of Vau Russel and the brook of Montmuran, which confluent with the locality of Closed Roquet.

History

Occupation at the time preceltic attested by the discovery into 1891 of an important deposit of objects dating from the final Bronze Age (tools, snaps, etc). This deposit was used to define the horizon of Saint-Brieuc-of-Iffs the , which marks the beginning of the industry of the bronze of the Atlantic sector. The Paroisse seems to be created in XIe century, by dismemberment of the primitive parish of Tinténiac. The parish of Saint-Brieuc and that of the Iffs were joined together in only one of the beginning of XIIIe century with 1629. Saint-Brieuc-of-Iffs the name of Saint-Brieuc of Vaux would have formerly carried, probably because of the valleys which bore the hills of Bécherel on its territory in direction of the Vault-Roadway and of Saint-Symphorien.

Economy

Mainly formerly founded on the textile, as attest it the existence of houses of tisserands and furnaces with hemp, the economy rested at the XIXe century on agriculture, the extraction of stone (careers, unexploited since 1970) and it wood (sawmill). It primarily agricultural or is based today on employment external with the commune.
