Saint-Anthony monastery
The monastery Saint-Anthony or Deir Mar Antonios is an important orthodoxe monastery copte located at approximately 155 km of the Cairo in Egypt, in the mountainous region close to the Red Sea.
History
Founded by the disciples of holy Antoine of the desert (holy Antoine the Large one) at the 4th century (perhaps in 356 just after the death of the saint), it is the oldest monastery of the world.
It has been occupied without interruption for more than 16 centuries.
