Saint-Alban-on-Limagnole

Saint-Alban-on-Limagnole is a common French, located in the department of the Lozere and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called the Saint-Albanians.
Geography
The village is in the middle of a basin of collapse of sandstone red and variegated clays, prolonged in north towards Malzieu. The Limagnole, affluent of the Truyère, crosses it. The borough was established on the southern slope with the outlet of the collars of the Margeride, around the feudal castle and of the church dedicated to Saint Alban, first martyr of England.

On the Via Podiensis of the ways of Compostelle.One comes from Chanaleilles, the next commune is Aumont-Aubrac and its church Saint Etienne.
History
Saint-Alban was initially a feudal fortress, built in 1245 and that the English occupied in 1364. With the the Middle Ages, it was one of the twelve seigniories Gévaudan. At the 16th century, Calvisson built close to the fortress a vast castle in irregular quadrilateral, flanked with the four angles of massive and unequal towers. A ditch surrounded the enclosure, which a drawbridge crossed.Heraldic

- the museum of the Metallurgy : he testifies to the factory construction of the area: presentation of the work tools, the social events and the modern factory.
Religious buildings
- the church Saint Alban : it is about a Romance church, where the auvergnate influence is felt. It is located the main road below, from where one sees well his rich person Abside with the harmonious arcades, under the round roof. An imposing wall-belfry with three bays, built in 1891, overhangs this apse; it carries, hung to its cross, a Bête of Gévaudan. The interior of the church is of a sober elegance. The Nave, arched in broken cradle, has five spans, the last added in 1819. The two vaults which open on the first span are also additions. As for the apse, in half dome, it is lit by five outward-splayed windows, which surround by beautiful arcades in semicircular arch. Posts support them, whose capitals decorate griffon S, of siren S and even of a Centaure drawing from the arc.
