Saint-Aignan-Grandlieu

Saint-Aignan-Grandlieu ( " Saent-Aenyan-Graund-Loe" in Gallo/poitevin and " Sant-Enion-Al-Lenn-Veur" in modern Breton) is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the administrative area Pays of the Loire.

The common belongs to the historical Brittany, in the traditional country of the Pays of Retz and in the historical country of the Nantes Pays. The official name of the commune is Saint-Aignan-Grandlieu (code official geographical of INSEE), but that it is sometimes made use, on a purely local basis, even in certain administrations, of name “Saint-Aignan-of-Large-Place”.

The inhabitants of Saint-Aignan are the Aignanais and Aignanaises .

The commune of Saint-Aignan-Grandlieu is located in edge of the Lac of Large-Place located at the South of the the Loire.

The commune of Saint-Aignan-of-Large-Place is surrounded of the communes of Bouguenais, Bouaye, Saint-Philbert-of-Large-Place, Chevrolière and Bridge-Saint-Martin.

Among the important monuments of the commune:

One finds his church. With modest outside, it is richly decorated inside a style baroque entirely renovated in 2001.

a bell of 1776 is preserved inside the building.

the second monument is the fountain Saint Rachoux. The water of this fountain would have the property to cure a disease of nourissons entitled the " rache" , more known under the name of the tinea.
