The sai is a traditional Arme Japan ease which was in the beginning a grip with fruits of which the use was diverted by the martial Masters of the island of Okinawa. It was then used during a time by the Japanese police officers.

The sai resembles a Trident, which does not slice but makes it possible to prick. The position of guard is very particular. One generally uses two know, a third of replacement which can be slipped with the belt in order to replace another broken or to be used for the throw.

Know were used to the peasants as Okinawa against the samurais armed with saber S; they indeed made it possible to break the Katana S.

The sai is, as the majority of the improvised country weapons, taught in the karate C, more particularly in the school (ryū) Kyokushinkai. One also studies an alternative, the Manji-sai, in Kobudo, which does not have a Tsuka (handle).
