Saguenéens de Chicoutimi

The Saguenéens de Chicoutimi are a club of Hockey of the Ligue of hockey major junior of Quebec (LHJMQ) since 1973. Saguenéens de Chicoutimi is one of the oldest teams of the league. Based with Saguenay (city) with the Saguenay-Lake-Saint-Jean, the team evolves/moves with the Center Georges-Vézina.

In 2005, the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi were named best the frankness from the Canadian Ligue of hockey.

History

It is in 1972 qu' a group wishes to equip Chicoutimi with a team in the LHJMQ. Its shareholders (Gilles Tremblay, Gaston Seneshal, Jean-Marc Charon, Jean-Marc Lavoie, Roland Hébert, Denis Cantin, Jacques Gagnon, Georges Quenneville, Jules Bouchard and daN Walker) knew that the challenge was enormous, but that the play was worth the candle of it. After many discussions, one granted a frankness to the town of Georges Vézina; Saguenéens had been born. One decided to give them the same name as the frankness from the late league senior. The same year, the Festivals of Hull (today the Olympic ones) began their activities.

September 30th, 1973, Sags disputed the first meeting of their history vis-a-vis the Junior of Montreal, a defeat of 7-2 front a crowd of more than 6000 spectators. Irony of fate, the first goal of the history of the team was marked by Marc Desforges, today Co-shareholder of the formation.

The concession changed hand with some recoveries with the passing of years. In the middle of the Eighties, the town of Chicoutimi controls to some extent the frankness, but decides to be separated some. At the dawn of the season 1988-89, Sags become the property of the Corporation of economic development of Chicoutimi. Two years later, the team is sold in Cegerco, Multisoda and Autocar Jasmine. The concession is still sold on May 28th, 1993 and fall between the hands from Yvon Bouchard, Benoit Boulianne and Marc Tremblay. This last will pass to a hair to put the team out of Saguenay.

December 28th, 1998, the owner Marc Tremblay exchanges Marc Bouchard, Ramzi Abid and Mathieu Benoit like two other players against players with the statute still in becoming. This exchange will be the three years starting point of misery, where the threats of removal are made hear. However, a group carried out by Guy Carbonneau becomes purchaser of the team in 2000. At the time when the team was on the point of changing address, old # 21 saves the pieces of furniture.
