Bound to the counts of champagne and Blois, the seigniory of Sagonne is found related to the fields of the counts de Sancerre since the Xe century. The castle was high during XIVe century to control the route of Bourges with Sancoins.

Anne de Bueil, heiress of Sancerre, Marie in 1428 with Pierre d' Amboise, companion of Jeanne d' Arc and the dynasty of Amboise will remain with Sagonne until Madam Antoinette Barbezieux is not obliged to resell her field with Mr. Jean Babou in 1542.

Sagonne will be set up in county at the 15th century, and it is Charles of the aubespine which repurchases it in 1632. Its nephew, extravagant heir, will be made seize his good in order to refund his creditors. Claude Lebas de Montargis will repurchase the castle, to resell it almost immediately, and his/her beautiful father Jules Hardouin-Mansart will cancel the first transaction to go purchaser in of it 1699. It acts for Jules Hardouin-Mansart, to have a feudal field titrated to be able to put forward a title of count. He will carry out important work in the castle at the beginning of the XVIIIe century. With the French revolution, Anne d' Arpajon, heiress of Mansart and controlling of Marie Antoinette will be guillotinée.

The castle will consequently be plundered, its roofs dismounted to recover lead, it will be used as farm and stone quarry. The castle is classified historic building in 1914, but it will remain with the abandonment. It is starting from 1977 that, repurchased by a downward family of Jean Babou, former owner of the field, which will begin the restoration, the castle will have partly gone up and is opened today with the visit.
