Saghmosavank

The “convent of the Psalms” or saghmosavank belongs to the second period of development of Armenian medieval architecture, at the 13th century, like the monastery of Geghart. Located at a score of kilometers of Erevan, on a height overhanging the valley of the Kasakh, it entered the possessions of the family of Vatchoutian. The principal church, Holy-Sion, were built by Vatché Vatchoutian in 1213 and the vault located at the south of this one was built in 1255 by his/her son Kourd Vatchoutian.
