Saga of Ynglingar
The Saga of Ynglingar was written at the origin in Vieux norrois by the Icelandic writer Snorri Sturluson about the year 1225. It is based on a text of the 9th century, Ynglingatal, allotted to the Norwegian scalde Þjóðólfr ór Hvini, and which also appears in the Historia Norwegiae .
The saga of Ynglingar is the first part of the Heimskringla, the history of the former Scandinavian kings written by Sturluson. She tells the oldest part of the history of the dynasty of the Ynglingar. She was translated into English and was published in 1844.
This saga speaks about the arrival of the Scandinavian gods in Scandinavia, and of the foundation of the dynasty of Ynglingar by God Freyr with Uppsala. Then, the saga follows the line of the Swedish kings until Ingjald Illrada. Its descendants were established then in Norway, or the saga continues, and would be the ancètres of Harald to the beautiful hair.
