Safia

Safia (or Saphia or Safiya ) is a Arab Prénom meaning “purity” or “limpidity”. It is usually used in the language to speak about something of pure, thus in Tunisia, a mineral water is called Safia. Very few children are born with this first name.

Many thinks that the Saphia first name comes from the Sophia Greek (wisdom), but to date no proof was brought from there.

In the Moslem countries, one associates this first name with the pure beauty, or with kindness and generosity.

Safyya is also an alternative of this first name. Mahomet has famous one of its wives, Khadîja, in Safyya
