Saddle-Saint-Denis is a common French, located in the department of Loir-et-Cher and the area Center.

Geography

Commune of the Sologne having a very forest soil. Its agricultural development passes by the exploitation of wood, the fields of hunting and the breeding.

History

  • This village was called before Saint-Genouph, this saint having lived in the vicinity (a fountain, built on a source, still bears its name and is the subject of one pilgrimage at Pentecost). A vault, where were redécouvertes at the time of a restoration of medieval paintings, also bears this name. The village took the name of Denis Saint then, another saint who provided his assistance for the church of the same name. Lastly, the village took the name of Saddle-Saint-Denis.
  • Created in 1860, the common neighbor of Ferté-Imbault had belonged to Saint-Denis Saddles before.
