Sacred music
The sacred music (one says spiritual music sometimes ) gathers the musical genres associated in one way or another with the religious practices with a given social group. The concept is thus opposed to that Musique profane.

But the sacred music can be also instrumental, i.e., exclusively intended for the instruments.

Classical music
The erudite Western music (or Classical music) is almost exclusively crowned throughout all Moyen-âge.The Roman Catholic church devoted some documents magistériels to the sacred music, whose Tra Sollecitudini and Musica Sacræ of Magpie X and Pie XII, and counts a pontifical Institut of sacred music which deals with the sacred music in its center.
