Sabriël
Sabriël (original Title: Sabriel) is a novel of Fantasy of the Australian writer Garth Nix published in Australia in 1995 and France in 2003. It belongs to the series entitled the Old Kingdom (The Old Kingdom) which comprises three novels and whose it constitutes the first volume.
Synopsis
In a camp of travellers, a woman dies in layer by carrying with it in death the little girl whom it has just put at the world. But the father of this little girl is not an ordinary man. He is called Abhorsën and it is powerful a necromancian able to cross the doors of death. However, the heart of his/her daughter not having crossed yet the first door, it hastens to go it to seek and name of Sabriël.

A few year later, Sabriël is eighteen years old and it is a brilliant pupil in the school to which his/her father entrusted it. It is also an excellent magician having inherited all the gifts of its family. The time of the Solstice of winter arrived and it impatiently awaits the visit désincarnée of the spirit of her father in order to discuss with him its future. It waits in vain because, in the place, it receives the visit of a creature of beyond which entrusts to him the sword and the magic attributes of his/her father. It includes/understands whereas a misfortune arrived to him and hastens to fly to its help. For that, it is necessary for him to cross the wall which protects the Ancien Kingdom , world of magic in which powerful a Death-alive watches for whose Abhorsën was already the victim.
Literary prizes
The novel Sabriël gained the price of the best novel of fantasy to the Aurealis Awards in 1995.
