Sabran is a common French, located in the department of the Gard and the area Languedoc-Roussillon.
Geography
On 3564 hectares, site and landscape of 7 hamlets, 4 in the plain, 3 on the plate and 1 village éponyme on a prominence which dominates all the territory (275m). Cèze runs of west towards the east in a rich alluvial plain (loess and silts of quaternary) bordered in the south of hills between 120m.et 240m. (formations limestones of the secondary). Brooks descend towards Cèze. The dominant culture is the vine which produces wines AOC Côtes of the Rhone and vins3 of everyday consumption on 1310 ha. Some asparaguses and fruits on 400 ha. The forest covers 1512 ha., holm oaks and coniferous trees planted by National Forestry Commission last century, not maintained chestnuts. This vegetation plays a big role of maintenance and protection of the grounds érodables in an area with violent one storms, hail, strong heat and mistral. This abundant vegetation shelters wild boars which impose measurements of cohabitation with the nondestruction of the cultures. The Historic buildings characterize Sabran.La " Vault of Templiers" is classified with the inventory of the Historic buildings (field of Boussargues) and the village of Sabran is registered with the inventory of the picturesque Sites of Gard.Les ruins of the castle and the Madonna is private field. The vault of Saint-Julien-of-Pistrin (XIIe century) has just been restored. The commune has 6 churches in the village of Sabran (12th), and the hamlets of Mégier, Donnat, Carmelite friars, Dovecote (12th) and Combe (19th) church offered by the former Mayor Mr. Florentin Collain. Other data of the dispersed habitat: 5 cemeteries, 5 towers water.
History

Feudality:
The Barons of Sabran, lords minor, pay homage and recognition with the bishops of Uzès major lords of all Sabranenque. Sabranet (1208), Rostang (1228), Pierre de Sabran (1262), has of Montcamp (1603), Joseph de Nicolay (1714) make recognition with full or partly and homage sometimes to knees, hands united between those of the Prelate .

Modern times:
Mandatement de Sabran is composed of 7 or 8 hamlets grouped in 3 parishes with Co.-Agathe de Sabran, Notre-Dame de Colombiers and St-Julien-of-Pistrin in Combe. The 3 priests have soing education of the children as much as they can it in only one school, an additional room of school will be later open.
Each year, at St-Martin, the election sets up the 1st Consul (Sabran and Mégier), 2nd (Carmelite friars and Donat), 3rd (Combe and Colombier). The Consuls lend oath in front of Viguier seigneurial, the hand on the Gospels.
June 15th, 1695, Louis XIV names the baron Joseph de Nicolay, mayor perpetual of Sabran. Rising Camisard, the cut of wood communal by the robbers, terrible winter 1709 disturb the communal life, like the storms of hail of 1726 and the plague which decimates the population. The churches of Carmelite friars (St-Josepn 1778) and Mégier (St-Beaver 1782) are built.
In 1789, the population is of 333 fires is 1400 hearts approximately. The register of grievances of the Révolution is written of 22 articles signed of 33 notable and 3 deputies give the book to Nimes.
Nowadays, migratory balance is increasing, 840 inhabitants into approximately 1954,1800 in 2004. Agriculture is the main activity, little craft industry, not trade, not industry. The nursery school and primary is in Combe (170 pupils). Intense community life relates to the leisures, the sport, the music and the culture. Two churches are built in Donat (St-Donat 1901) and Combe (1895 Sacred Heart of Jesus), the latter offered to the community with personal capacity by the former mayor Mr. Florentin Collain. Sabran, large " banlieue" of Bagnols-sur-Cèze is integrated in the Communauté of communes the Rhone Cèze Languedoc.
