Sabine Azéma is a French Actrice of Cinéma and a director, born with Paris the September 20th 1949.

Biography

Girl of a lawyer, it makes traditional studies. After the vat, it follows courses of theater (Périmony course), then, at twenty years, enters to the Conservatoire, with Antoine Vitez as professor. Distributed to the theater in roles of young first mischievous, it meets Claude Sainval, director of the Comédie of the Fields-Élysées, which entrusts its first great role in to him the Waltz of the toreadors (1974), where it is the girl of Louis de Funès, in front of Jean Anouilh, the author of the part.

Thanks to this role, the proposals become more numerous and it makes its beginnings in 1975 on television, then with the cinema in 1976 with a comedy of Georges Lautner: One will have all considering , at the sides, in particular, of Pierre Richard and Jean-Pierre Marielle.

After an interpretation all in smoothness in the Lacemaker (1977) and some small roles, it meets Alain Resnais which will give a decisive turn to its career. It will entrust to an exceptional gallery characters to him to the length of a collaboration which extends on more than two decades: teacher with the temperament impassioned in the Life is a novel in 1983; tragic heroin in dark the love with dead in 1984 then in Mello in 1987; six characters very different, from more cultivated with roughest, the laughter to the tears, for as many very accomplished compositions, in Smoking/No Smoking in 1993; the sharp one and energetic Odile in multi-cesarized the One knows the song in 1997; singing, in the film-operetta Not on the mouth in 2003; sometimes virtuous sometimes vicious in Hearts in 2006.

It was the friend of the photographer Robert Doisneau (1912-1994), to which it devoted a film-homage in 1992.

It is the partner of Alain Resnais.
