STCW is initials which mean in English language:

Convention one Standard off Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers

The first International convention on the standards of training of the day before and, delivery sailors of the patents (Convention STCW), was adopted on July 7th, 1978 (STCW 78) within the framework of the International Maritime Organization (OMI). It is coming into effect six years later, in 1984.

Goal

The goal of this convention, which was altered since (STCW 95), is to regulate with the international scales the qualifications of the flight crew it in an international way. One of the objectives was to limit the risks related to the crews under-standard ; the ships being called to traverse the whole world, such a regulation had direction only with the international scales.

STCW forces the countries signatories to set up their own control system of the quality of their device of formation and delivery of the titles.
