SS-N-22

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a Jeu of platform of Sega left in 1992 on Megadrive, then converted on Master System and Game GEAR (see Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8 bit) ). It takes again the concept of its predecessor Sonic the Hedgehog by proposing three principal changes: the addition of a mode 2 players, the presence of Tails and the possibility of becoming Super Sonic.

The play was developed by the team of STI (Sega Technical Institute) of Sega off America at the time joined by Yuji Naka and Hirokazu Yasuhara. It is one of the rare video games to have profited from a world exit on Megadrive.

Introduction

While arriving on West Side Island, Sonic realizes that it is followed by a malicious fox to two tails, “Miles " Tails " Prower”. Thanks to its tenacity and with its abilities, Sonic decides to let it follow it and will profit from its assistance during all the play.

Synopsis

Dr. Robotnik still transformed the animals of the island into robots, and it is in Sonic to deliver them.

Gameplay

The play takes again and improves the principle of Sonic the Hedgehog , primarily based on the speed of the character and his aptitudes of jump. The player must collect a maximum of rings which bring back points. Death occurs only when Sonic is touched without rings, when it falls into a hole or when it is made crush.

The play adds the possibility of charging an attack ( Spin Dash ) what makes it possible Sonic to take high-speed departures.

Tails, the second character of the play, by defect, controlled the computer and is reproduced the movements of Sonic. It is however possible with another player to incarnate Tails and to play with Sonic in co-operation. In the mode of normal play Tails does not have lives: it returns indefinitely a few seconds after being dead or being left the screen (the screen follows only Sonic, it is to the leading player Tails to follow the movement).

If the player passes on a Checkpoint with more than fifty rings, it is possible to reach a Mini-play ( special training course ) which makes it possible to recover a emerald: Sonic and Tails in a tube, are seen back, and must collect there a maximum of rings without being made wound by mines.

Lastly, if the player managed to join together 7 emeralds, it can be transformed into Super Sonic. As soon as it has more than 50 rings and change, the transformation is carried out. Sonic becomes yellow, much faster than before and invincible. N the other hand the number of rings drops at a rate of every two seconds. If it falls to zero, Sonic becomes again normal (and without rings). As in all Sonic, to have all emeralds is essential to see the true end of the play.

It is possible to play only with Tails (to be chosen in options: pous that made still Low when you are on " 2 joueurs"), but it does not fly and does not transform itself into Super Tails.

Mode of plays to two players, fact affrontrer two characters. The play proposes is a splitté screen or the players must as soon as possible finish the level and with the most rings. But he also proposes to the players of affornter in the mini-play of the pipe (special training course of the normal mode), the player having the most rings at the end of the pipe gains.

Level X

  • Emerald Hill Zone : Constituted primarily of palm trees, bees and piranhas, Emerald Hill is the first zone of the play. Taking again the topic of Green Hill with her green hills, it constitutes a good introduction and its loops and other gimlets are crossed quickly and easily to arrive at the Dr. Robotnik.

  • Chemical Seedling Zone : It is the fastest zone of the play, not because it proves short but more because its pipes with pressure and its vertiginous descents make you travel very quickly. However this vast industrial park is not without danger with its spiders which capture you and the level of the purplished water which goes up progressively and which unceasingly threatens to drown you.

  • Aquatic Ruin Zone : The watery zone of the play. Very coloured and very succeeded, with an original boss.

  • Casino Night Zone : The zone casino of the play. This time, this side is assumed completely. There is full of springs, with flippers and machines with under, which make it possible here to even gain to lose rings.

  • Hill Signal Zone : The zone with lava of this episode. It makes think of the Rocheuses and takes again graphics of Emerald Hill with different colors. Small innovation, of the earthquakes spice the life of the player.

  • Mystic Undermines Zone : Caves in let us tons purplished and dark.

  • Oil Ocean Zone : Sonic in a refinery! Oil with abundance (which ends up killing if one remains there too a long time), various obstacles and traps and a complexity enough gas works.

  • Metropolis Zone : Industrial park in three acts. This one is particularly long and testing. One finds there bolts which are used as elevators; it is sometimes very difficult to escape certain enemies. Fortunately, the boss is original and rather simple to beat.

  • Sky Drives out Zone : A very original zone since being held on the plane of sonic. One would believe oneself almost in a shot in old. No the boss of end.

  • Wing Fortress Zone : A large flying plane (whose idea will be included in Sonic & Knuckles).

  • Death Egg Zone : The final zone. One faces there (without rings) two boss: Silver Sonic then a giant robot with the image of Robotnik. This last does not require less than 12 blows to be beaten.

  • Let us note also Wood Zone and Hidden Palace Zone , being coded in the play but inaccessible during the play. One can find these zones in the versions beta of this play as with codes action replay (but practically unplayable since the graphs were removed).

  • And Genocide City as Dust Hill Zone which is only in beta release.
