SNC , founded in 1911, was a Québécois company working in the Civil engineering and the energy.
Arthur Surveyer, a Québécois engineer, founds in 1911 with Montreal a small office of consulting engineer, who works in the field of the Civil engineering and the energy. Later, the activities of the firm diversify, in particular in the industrial sector.
In 1937, its founder joins two others Engineer S, Emil Nenniger and George Chênevert. In 1947, the company is renamed Surveyer, Nenniger and Chênevert Inc., then it becomes SNC Inc. in 1975. It is then one of the most important firms of Canadian engineering.
At the beginning of the Years 1960, this firm conceives the stopping Manic 5, on the Rivière Manicouagan, in the north of Quebec. This stopping, higher than the Eiffel Tower, is always today most dam with multiple vaults in the world. The success of this project makes it possible the firm to obtain contracts with the international scales, including one important stopping in the Indies. To maintain its expansion during the Years 1970, the firm offers its services in project management, completion of projects turn-key and financing of projects. This formula will enable him to obtain many contracts on the international scene.
At the beginning of the Years 1980, it saw a serious problem of management. Guy St-Pierre, member of the board of directors, will take the bar of the ship and will bring back it in surer water. In 1986, it carries out a first issue of shares out of purse.
It amalgamates with Lavalin in 1991, thus forming the largest firm of engineering of the Canada: SNC-Lavalin.
