SID (microprocessor)
The SID , or MOS 6581 , is the name of the chip managing all the its Commodore 64 and Commodore 128.
This chip is true a Synthétiseur, exceeding all technologically that was done at the time. It will contribute largely to the business success of Commodore 64. It was conceived and manufactured by the subsidiary company of Commodore International, MOS Technology
There remains used in the Années 2000 in particular by the Elektron SidStation, an electronic musical instrument based on the SID. Certain musicians or groups such as Machinae Supremacy or KMFDM use it in their compositions.
