SC Sélestat handball is a club of Handball French founded in 1967. It evolves/moves this season in championship of France of Division 1.

History

The club was founded in 1967. Sélestat becomes champion of France of Main road 3 and arrives in semi-final of the Challenge of France during the season 1978 - 1979.

Vice-champion of Main road 1B at the conclusion of the season 1989 - 1990, the club reaches the Main road 1A (today Division 1), the level elite, which he attends still today, in spite of two briefs passages in Division 2 at the time of the seasons 1992 - 1993 and 1996 - 1997.

At the time of the season 1999 - 2000, the club reaches the best classification of its history by finishing 5 of Division 1, at only two points of a European qualification.

Club with very small budget, the SC Sélestat is nevertheless famous like having an excellent training center. It is in particular here that Thierry Omeyer and Seufyann Sayad, to quote only they, were formed. Often used as springboard for a future career, Sélestat also allowed many players, today of international class, to make known itself with the general public like Volker Michel, Eric Gul, Heykel Mgannem or Issam Tej.
