The Sportclub Heerenveen is a club of Football Dutch located at Heerenveen and which evolves/moves in the First division Dutchwoman. This “small club”, according to the usual standards of European football, succeeds in qualifying for the phase of group of the Ligue of the Champions 2000-2001, having succeeded in the former season finishing in the second place of the Championnat. It thus signs its single victory to date in this competition vis-a-vis the Olympiakos Pirée, while finishing fourth of its group, behind FC Valence, the Olympique Lyonese and the Olympiakos.
The club is often regarded as one of the outsiders behind three the “large ones” of the country which are the Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven and the Feyenoord Rotterdam, to which one can add AZ Alkmaar today.
Built in 1994, the stage Abe Lenstra, of the name of old a footballer having evolved/moved in this team, counts 26 600 seats, of which 25 000 on average are occupied with each match. It is however in constant work since its erection.
The symbols represented on the logo of the club evoke the flag of the Frise, area of the north of the Netherlands. Each home match is preceded by the anthem clippings.
