SANAA

Sanaa , (also spelled Sanatorium , Sana' has or Sanaá ), in Arabic: صنعاء , is the capital of the Yemen, located at 2350 meters of altitude, the foot of two Montagne S Djebel Nogoum (2892 meters) and Djebel Ayban (3194 meters). It shelters 1,3 million inhabitants (in 2001).

Ethiopian at the 6th century, the city was occupied several times by the Ottoman Empire. With the independence of Yemen, in 1918, Sanaa became the capital, until in 1948 date on which this one was transferred to Taïz, before returning in Sanaa in 1962.

The town of Sanaa is an arts center Islamique, a university is found there Moslem and much Mosquée S. It was indicated by cultural UNESCO “Capital of the Arab Monde” for 2004 and the old city is registered with the world heritage since 1986

Sanaa is served by El Rahaba its airport.
