Suleyman ibn Kutulmuch , first sultan of Rum (1074-1086), founder of the dynasty seldjoukide of Rum (1080 - 1308), wire of Kutulmuch, relative of Alp Arslan.
After the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, the Anatolia is opened with the Turkish settlement . Suleyman takes Nicée with the Byzantines in 1078. Master of banks of Propontide and the the Bosphorus, the Turks form from now on a mass of operation close to Constantinople, with provision of all the ambitious ones: Nicéphore Bryennios involves them in Europe; in Asia, Nicéphore Mélissénos gives them access to the Galatie and the Phrygie where they settle for the first time in the cities.
In 1080, as vassal of Byzance, Suleyman ibn Kutulmuch undertakes to subject Is Anatolian. Then it takes Iconium (Konya) and attacks Small Arménie of Cilicie and Philarère Vahram in the south of Malatya (1084). In 1085, it takes Antioche, then walk on Alep where it is overcome by Tutuş, brother of the sultan seldjoukide of Baghdad Malik Shah I {{er}}. His/her son Kiliç Arslan is taken along in captivity.
With its death in 1086, the Sultanat of Rum is controlled by the regent Abû' l-Qasîm, until the release of Kiliç Arslan with the end of the year 1092.
