Sénoufos

The Sénoufos (or Siéna , name which is given and which means those which speak senna , the Sénoufo) constitute a African Ethnie , present at the Burkina Faso, in the south of the Mali (mainly in the area of Sikasso) and in Ivory Coast (in north, around the towns of Boundiali and Korhogo), counting approximately 1,5 million members, is 9,7  % of the population of Ivory Coast. The sénoufos are subdivided in several under groups:

  • the Niaraforos primarily in the department of Ferkessédougou

  • the Tchébaras in the department of Korhogo
  • the Tagbanas/Tagouanas with Katiola
  • Nanfarans under prefectures of KARAKORO, NAPIE, KOMBORODOUGOU, etc
  • Fodonons (which dance the Boloï called commonly dance panther ) with Lataha , Kataha , Moroviné , Plagbo etc…)
The Minianka S are regarded as related with the Sénoufos people. They are installed in the circles of Koutiala and San, with the Mali.
