Sénégambie

The Sénégambie initially indicated a geographical surface corresponding roughly to the basins of the rivers Senegal and Gambia.

The Confederation of Sénégambie

Then the toponym was included in the Années 1980 to indicate a confederation between the countries of the Senegal and the Gambia. It had been officialized on February 1st 1982 to promote the co-operation between the two areas. It is dissolved on September 30th 1989 by Senegal when Gambia refuses to reinforce the union.
