Séleucos II
Séleucos II Callinicos (the Large Winner) is a king séleucide who reigns of 246 with 225.
He is the oldest son of Antiochos II and Laodice Ire and goes up on the throne when his/her mother poisons her father. He carries out against Ptolémée III the third war of Syria which appears disastrous, the troops of his adversary reaching even the Tigre. The sovereign Lagide takes from Séleucos the possession of the Syria of north and the southernmost coasts of the Asia Mineure until Éphèse. This disaster involves the revolt of Antiochos Hiérax, his/her brother, who tears off to him most of Asia Mineure (241). As for the Eastern provinces, they become gradually independent or fall under the cut of the Parthes. This catastrophic reign is completed in 225. In spite of its nickname Séleucos II, was never victorious.
