Sékou Amadou (or Ahmadou) was a marabout Peul, founder of the Empire peul of Macina. It was born in 1776 in Molangol, a village close to Mopti and died in 1844 or 1845.

Sékou Tinder, born Ahmadou Bari, after having followed a Koranic teaching to Djenné, meets the hostility of the oulémas and must be exiled with Noukouma, in the north of Djenné. It is in Noukouma that it fights its first battle in 1818 against the ardos, (chiefs) peul animists combined in Fama (king) of Ségou. At once, he declares the Jihad and conquers Djenné in 1819 where he makes shave the large mosque built by king Koi Koumboro whose beauty offended stripped Islam that he preaches to build a news.

He founds a theocratic empire, the Empire peul of Macina, called Diina and the town of Hamdallaye (rented either God) which becomes the capital, located near Mopti, on the edges of the Bani. This empire will be extended by his/her son until Tombouctou. Very puritan, he endeavors to propagate Islam in the animists. He organizes Macina militarily and administratively, sédentarise Peuls and establishes a Draconian taxation.

He receives from the Caliph of Sokoto (current Nigeria) the title of Cheick (Sékou which means spiritual guide) and takes the title of commander of the believers.

He dies of natural death in 1844 or 1845. His/her son Tinder Sékou, then his/her small son Ahmadou Ahmadou succeeds to him.
