São João C Itaperiú is a city Brésil ienne of the State of Santa Catarina. It is located at a Latitude of 26º 37 ' 04" south and with a Longitude of 48º 46 ' 05" west. Its average altitude is of 33 meters. Its population is estimated at: 3502 inhabitants in 2006. The municipality extends on 152 km ².

General information

The annual average temperature with São João C Itaperiú is of 20,3°C. One cultivates there mainly the Banane and the Riz. One also produced there Wood and Flour. Finally the city still presents great extents of native forest and it does not exist there tourist development project of great width.

History

The documents telling the history of the municipalities are very few, and it is difficult to say which were the first colonists who populated the area. Apparently, at the beginning of the 20th century, a Italy N named João Batista is established on banks of Rio Itaperiú and found a colony, thus named there São João C Itaperiú . The city is established in municipality on March 29th 1992, by dismemberment of Barra Velha. Every March 29th, the birthday of the city, and the June 29th, Saint Jean-Baptiste, owner of the city are celebrated there.
