Sándor Petőfi

Sándor Petőfi , born Alexander Petrovics , is a national Poète Hungarian born on January 1st 1823 with Kiskőrös and dead the July 31st 1849 with Sighişoara.

He played a part, more mythical than effective, in the Hungarian Révolution of 1848 against the Habsbourg (cf Ferdinand Ier of Austria).

His/her father was Stevan Petrović (in Hungarian István Petrovics), whose native tongue was Hungarian (however it was of descent Serbe), and his/her mother was Mária Hrúzová whose native tongue was the Slovaque.

It was a Hungarian aware of itself strong and notable, becoming the spiritual leader of the radical groups of the revolution, which wanted total independence with respect to the monarchy of Habsbourg and a free Hungary.

He wrote a share of the greatest national poetry of Hungary.

On God of the Hungarians
Us it swearwords,
Us it swearwords,
Which we will not be slaves
Plus a long time!
