Biography

He was also regarded as the successor of George Best, another icon of Manchester United. He passed professional in November 1990. He made his first appartion in the league with Old Trafford against Everton, the March 2nd 1991, returning in the place of Denis Irwin.

The following season was remarkable for Ryan Giggs. It marked its first goal in championship at the time of a victory 1-0 against Manchester City, while the wound of Lee Sharpe enabled him to regularly gain a place of holder, helped by beautiful services on the ground (a very good speed, effective dribbles).

It became with the passing of years a true emblem of the club, with 705 appearances and 140 goals to date. Its contract, which expires in 2008, surely will enable him to exceed the record held by the old attacker Sir Bobby Charlton (759 appearances).
