Ruy Gonzáles de Clavijo

Ruy González de Clavijo (? - April 2nd 1412), writer and Spanish traveller .

Biography

August 1st Ruy Gonzáles de Clavijo was ambassador at the court of Tamerlan, founder and directing Empire Timuride. Clavijo wrote the Embajada has Tamor Lán (“Embassy with Tamerlan”). He visited Teheran in Perse in 1404.

He was sent in 1403 by Henri III, king of Castille, in embassy close to Tamerlan. He visited Constantinople, Trébizonde, the Arménie, Khoraçan, Samarkand, and wrote in Spanish a newspaper of his voyage, which was only printed in 1582 with Seville.
