Ruy Blas
Ruy Blas is a Play of Victor Hugo published in 1838, which completes its romantic movement. It was represented with the Théâtre of the Rebirth the November 8th 1838.
In Ruy Blas , Victor Hugo associates with force the love and the policy. The hero of this romantic drama, Ruy Blas, deploys his intelligence and his eloquence as well to denounce and humiliate a possessive oligarchy of the goods of the State as to be worthy to love the queen of Spain. But this voice of the people, lit by the love, is hostage of one delivered of servant and a Master attached to lose the queen by giving him “her lackey for lover”.

Summary
Act I - Gift Salluste
A living room in the palate of the king in Madrid. Don Salluste de Bazan meditates on the disgrace of which it is victim. It has just been exiled court, by the queen of Spain because he had an illegitimate child with one of following of the latter and which he refuses to marry. To be avenged he asks his cousin Don César to help it, but this one refuses to make evil has a woman. It is learned that its servant, Ruy Blas loves the queen in secrecy and that he even wrote a letter to him because it reveals it in Don César that it recognizes like Zafari a former friend. Gift Salluste having very heard, makes stop Don César and makes pass Ruy Blas for this one. After submithaving submitted it to the court, he just asks him to allure the queen and withdraws himself.
Act II - The queen of Spain
The young woman of the king Charles II is bored, far from her native Germany. The formalism of the label, the indifference of an old husband at thirty years encourage it with the sentimental escape (scene 1). However, on a bench of the park, each day, an unknown deposits a its preferred flower bunch, and it has just joined to it a letter (scene 2). It with the emotion to identify the épistolier in the person of " Gift César" (Ruy Blas), which brings to him, on behalf of the king, a laconic ticket of hunting. The disorder of Ruy Blas in front of its finally approximate idol goes until the syncope (scene 3). Thanks to the writing of the letter brought she recognizes Ruy Blas as being her secret admirer who brought flowers to him and having written a splendid love letter to him. Gift Guritan, in love it also with the princess and anxious of the incipient idylle, cause Ruy Blas in duel. The queen, to save her young admirer, sends the old man sighing to carry a box to her parents in Neubourg.
Act III - Ruy Blas
Become Prime Minister by the favor of the queen, Ruy Blas wants to make react his/her colleagues who plunder the State (scene 2). It thus deserves the consent of love and the kiss of its sovereign (scene 3). But while he thanks God for his happiness (scene 4), gift Salluste comes to point out its condition and its role to him; Ruy Blas understands that gift Salluste assembled all this machination to exert cruelest of revenges on their queen.
Act IV - Gift César
Ruy Blas is in state of shock, it does not include/understand very well the stratagem of Gift Salluste. He however thinks of protecting the Queen to which he makes send by a ticket the order not to leave. He leaves scene and goes prier.Arrived in scene of the true Gift César disguised in Zafari which took refuge by chance in the home of Ruy Blas. It is equipped in haillon and revêt a beautiful found coat (disguise given to Ruy Blas by Salluste). It receives with its name (actually for Ruy Blas) a large amount of money then an appointment with a lady, it plays the game and accepts both. Don César kills Don Guritan. Salluste makes stop Don César and must hasten its revenge against the Queen.
Act V - The tiger and the lion
Ruy Blas is desperate, it does not support any more what it occurs and wants to be poisoned. The Queen until it does not wait (but which will come by a ticket addressed by Don Salluste) comes to see it. Salluste having organized the appointment, comes to surprise the two lovers. He proposes a market with the Queen: she must give up her throne and leave with Ruy Blas in dishonor or remain but see herself dishonoured because of her relation with a servant and be made exile. The market is not bearable for the lovers. Ruy Blas, thorough with end reveals its true identity with the Queen, humiliates Salluste and kills it with its own sword. Initially the Queen cannot accept this love, then when it realizes that Ruy Blas is poisoning itself, it recognizes it under the name of Ruy blas and forgives him. Unfortunately, Ruy Blas having decided to kill whatever the reaction out of the queen, dies in the arms of this one.
