Ruth Handler

Ruth Handler (born the November 4th 1916, deceased the April 27th 2002) is an American businesswoman which revolutionized the industry of the toy in 1959 by creating the Poupée Barbie, of the name of his/her Barbara daughter, and the headstock Ken of the name of his/her Kenneth son. The opulent chest, the small size and the long legs of Barbie went completely against the round and asexual style of the headstocks of the time and made date, by their audacity and their realism, in the history of the toy for little girls. Born Ruth Mosko, Ruth Handler was youngest of the ten children of a family of immigrants judéo-Polish. With her husband Elliot Handler and the designer Harold Mattson, it had created Mattel in 1945, a formed name of the Matt of Mattson and El of Elliot .
