According to the phylogenetic classification APG II (2003) this family is optional and these plants can be included in the Asparagacée S. When it is accepted, this family is more important, including the Ériospermacée S, Convallariacée S, etc the family is attached to the order of the Asparagales .
The kind Dracaena and Sansevieria which gives house plants largely used form part now of it. They constituted the Dracaenacées previously.
The situation is identical for the kinds Beaucarnea, Nolina, Dasylirion , of the arborescent plants with a rivet washer of final sheets originating in the hot areas of America and which trained in the past the family of the Nolinacées.
